Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Salvation in the old testament was no different than it is today, received by grace through faith. There has only ever been one gospel void from the works of the law.

The salvation of the soul and certainty of heaven is only available by the grace of God paid by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The confusion isn’t on what God did for us, but HOW we receive the gift of God. It is received through FAITH, and not by works!
