As we make preparations for The Church in Caloundra, we take a look back at the Soul Winning Marathon which took place on Saturday the 29th October 2016. This event was an opportunity for Kevin Sepulveda to gage the need for a gospel preaching church on the Sunshine Coast. It also allowed the local believers to gather together for a time of work and fellowship, many of whom met for the first time.
The event was co-hosted by The Church in Punchbowl and Thus Saith The LORD Ministries. Pastor Logan Robertson from Westcity Bible Baptist Church (Auckland, New Zealand) made the trek across the Tasman to give the local believers an opportunity to be baptised.
A week prior to the event, Victor Tey Bishop of The Church in Punchbowl, sent out a rally cry to promote this work for the Lord.
2 Chronicles 14:11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
Thus Saith the LORD Ministries published a fresh batch of leaflets (which have to be the best and most visually attractive tracts) just in time for the event.
The Caloundra Scout Group hall was decided as the central meeting point with Little Mountain as the targeted gospel preaching suburb.
Mark 3:13 And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

The day started with 12 soul winners divided into six teams knocking the doors of Little Mountain. Six residents believed the gospel and received Jesus as their saviour.
Next we headed to Currimundi Lake for lunch and baptisms. Seven believers took advantage of being baptised as a step of obedience on the day.
In the afternoon we had 11 soul winners divided into five teams. We thank God for one more soul who called upon the name of the Lord, receiving eternal life.
The day concluded by gathering together for dinner, a time of singing, prayer, bible reading, and bible preaching. We praise God for the fellowship and opportunity to meet with other like-minded believers.
- 44 in attendance
- 13 soul winners preaching the gospel

On the 13th November 2016, Kevin Sepulveda reported back to The Church in Punchbowl on the success of the event.
